Twilight Comes Out Swinging on Opening Weekend
As expected THE TWILIGHT SAGA: NEW MOON took a commanding lead for its opening weekend, Nov. 20-22, earning $142.8 million for Summit and the #1 slot. THE BLIND SIDE from Warner Bros. came in second for its first week, earning $34.1 million.
Sony's 2012 earned $26.4 million and the #3 slot for its second week. PLANET 51, also from Sony, raked in $12.3 million and the #4 spot.
A CHRISTMAS CAROL raked in $12.3 million for Buena Vista and the #5 spot. PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL PUSH BY SAPPHIRE raked in $10.9 million for Lionsgate and the #6 spot.
Overture's THE MEN WHO STARE AT GOATS came in #7 for its third week, earning $2.8 million. COUPLES RETREAT raked in $1.9 million for Universal and the #8 spot, earning $1.6 million.
THE FOURTH KIND from Universal earned $1.7 million and the #9 spot while MICHAEL JACKSON'S THIS IS IT from Sony rounded out the top ten.
