Kids' WB! has committed to airing 39 all-new episodes of the
anime-adventure series YU-GI-OH! from U.S. producers 4Kids
Productions, Inc. The second season pick-up brings the series' total
commitment to 65 episodes, airing both on Saturday mornings and
weekday afternoons beginning in fall 2002. "YU-GI-OH! is on a roll,
most recently delivering Kids' WB!'s highest rating and share in our
target demographic of boys 6-11, and we're thrilled to add 39 all-new
exciting episodes to the schedule," said Donna Friedman, executive
vice president, Kids' WB! The series, which involves a young boy who
gains magical powers after mastering a puzzle game, is based on the
original comic book created by Kazuki Takahashi and published by
Shueisha Inc., and is produced by Nihon Ad Systems, Inc. For another
addition to its Saturday morning line-up, Kids' WB! has ordered 13
original episodes of the returning series STATIC SHOCK from Warner
Bros. Animation. This third season of the series, which follows the
adventures of Virgil Hawkins, electromagnetic superhero, will air on
Saturday mornings during the 2002-2003 season.
