files/pictures/picture-35.jpgAfter last week's impressive 9.8 rating, THE SIMPSONS slipped this past week, finishing in 41st place with an 8.2 rating/12 share. Its Fox Sunday night animation cohorts, KING OF THE HILL and FUTURAMA, took #73 and #79 respectively. KING garnered a 5.5 rating/9 share and FUTURAMA grabbed a 4.6 rating/8 share. The rest of the primetime animated fare, CELEBRITY DEATHMATCH, GARY & MIKE and THE PJS finished in the cellar all tied for 111th place, with a 1.5 rating/3 share. DEATHMATCH and GARY & MIKE both tied for the lowest ratings of the week for UPN and THE PJS only beat out the WB's live-action special 20 TEENS, which ran on Sunday after THE PJS 7:30 airing. These ratings and shares represent primetime TV in the U.S. on broadcast networks for the week starting Monday, February 5 through Sunday, February 11, 2001. A rating is the percentage of households that tuned into the program in the entire universe of TV homes. The universe estimate for the 2000-2001 television season is 102.2 million TV homes. Each rating point represents one percent of that universe, or 1.022 million TV homes. Translation: THE SIMPSONS, with an 8.6 rating, was viewed in just over 8.78 million (8.6 x 1.022 million) households. A share is the percentage of homes with TVs being used at that given time.
