Nickelodeon To Deliver ‘Nickmas’ Holiday
Created 12/16/2003 - 00:00
Nickmas is on through most of December 2003, as the kid channel delivers nightly primetime presents programming marathons and throughout the month.
The holiday shows includes premieres of THE ADVENTURES OF JIMMY NEUTRON, BOY GENIUS/Holly Jolly Jimmy, ROCKET POWER/"A Rocket X-mas" and ROMEO!/"A Lil' Som'en Some'en for Christmas"-- along with holiday favorites galore. Treats for tots include BOB THE BUILDER festive one-hour extravaganza, A Christmas to Remember, with Elton John voicing a musician who steps in for an ailing singer to save the day with a Christmas concert.
Nickelodeon lights the menorah and heaps the basket with matzo, too, celebrating Chanukah in special episodes of AS TOLD BY GINGER (Dec. 17) and RUGRATS (Dec.18) and Kwanzaa with THE RUGRATS (Dec. 26).
In the holiday premiere of THE ADVENTURES OF JIMMY NEUTRON, BOY GENIUS/Holly Jolly Jimmy titled "Holly Jolly Jimmy," Jimmy is convinced that Santa Claus does not exist. He travels to the North Pole with Carl and Sheen where they discover a toy factory, and when Jimmy's homing device malfunctions, it emits a blast of energy that hits the source of the signal: Santa Claus. Jimmy must now put his doubts aside, load up the hypercube and try to save Christmas.
ROCKET POWERs holiday episode, A Rocket X-mas, finds Reggie and Otto so obsessed with a dog-walking service to earn cash for gifts that they fail to stop and smell the evergreen, while dad Ray fixates on holiday traditions and grows annoyed with his disinterested kids. Eventually, all eyes are opened to the notion that Christmas isnt just about presents and traditions; its about family and appreciating loved ones.
The message echoes in ROMEO!/"with "A Lil' Som'en Some'en for Christmas," as Percy is stuck at an airport outside of Chicago, desperately trying to make it home for the holiday -- and unaware that Romeo and Louis inadvertently have allowed a watch that their late mother purchased one Christmas for Percy to be donated to Louis former foster home.
