Press release from Factory Studios:
Salt Lake City, UT -- Factory Studios , led by film industry leaders Steve Griffith, Tom Mikota and Keith Manley, has launched “Factory Connect,” a cloud-based service that provides users with streaming, on-demand access to hardware, software and shared data. Geared toward the visual effects, gaming, animation, architectural and engineering industries, Factory Studios’ products, including Factory Connect, are crafted to increase project workflow and productivity by connecting digital content creators across the globe.
As digital content creators, the Factory Studios team of developers faced challenges caused by a lack of connectivity among the many collaborators on a single project. This limited connectivity, only worsened by the constraints of transferring bulky amounts of data, impeded project workflow and often postponed the completion of time-sensitive projects.
After years of suffering through the inefficiencies experienced in production, and unable to find commercial solutions to these problems, Griffith, Mikota and Manley joined forces to solve the problem themselves. It was obvious that part of the answer was leveraging the economies of cloud technology. However, of the existing commercial cloud providers, there weren't any that focused on the digital media creation industry and its specific needs. The chasm that separated digital media creators and the benefits of cloud technology could only be bridged by combining customized workflow tools with industry specific hardware. The result is FACTORY CONNECT, a solution that allows directors, supervisors, producers, designers, artists, architects and engineers to focus on creativity instead of technology.
“Factory Studios’ cloud-based technology changes the entire approach of collaborating with designers and developers in an array of industries, from visual effects and animation to architecture and engineering,” said Factory Studios CTO Tom Mikota. “Not only do the technologies increase connectivity and workflow, but they also greatly reduce labor, hardware and software costs for companies and/or projects of any size.”
