Summit Picks Up Derrickson's Found Footage Thriller
Summit Ent. has secured the U.S. distribution rights to THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE's Scott Derrickson's untitled found footage thriller, reports Deadline.com. Ethan Hawke is set to star.
Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill penned the script, which follows a reporter who drags his family around the country investigating murders for his books. In their new location, he finds video footage related to the family that was murdered in the house.
Jason Blum (PARANORMAL ACTIVITY) and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones' Automatik Ent. are the producers. Charles Layton will exec produce.
The budget is around $5 million. Summit will earn a 17.5% distribution fee, but owe the filmmakers a 5% gross payment.
Production will begin in September.
