This touching and insightful piece is brought to you by the letters X, Y and Z, for Sesame Workshop NYC, with beautiful character design done by Celeste Potter.
Part of Sesame Workshop’s Little Children, Big Challenges: Incarceration initiative, the short film was created to help the over 2.7 million children in the U.S. with incarcerated parents deal with a uniquely difficult situation:
These children often feel a number of complex emotions: sadness, shame, guilt, and anger. Yet they often don’t feel they are allowed to talk about their experience, partly because the adults in their life oftentimes don’t know how to talk about the experience either. That’s why Sesame Workshop launched Little Children, Big Challenges: Incarceration, a multimedia, bi-lingual (English/Spanish) outreach initiative with stories featuring Sesame Street’s beloved characters that help children feel reassured, loved and supported.
