SPTI Ups Orengo To VP, Distribution, Latin America & Caribbean
Strengthening its Latin American management team in Miami, Sony Pictures Television International (SPTI) has appointed Angel Orengo to vp, distribution, Latin America and the Caribbean. Orengo will oversee all SPTI program distribution to free, basic and pay TV services and platforms in Latin America and the Caribbean, working closely with SPTI's worldwide distribution, sales planning and finance teams in Los Angeles. He will also be responsible for continuing to develop SPTI's new media opportunities in the region with cable and satellite operators and new entrants in the digital space. He reports to Keith LeGoy, SPTI's svp/md of Latin America and the Caribbean.
Orengo and SPTI's marketing team will also work with broadcasters to ensure that SPTI's movies and series are optimally positioned, scheduled and marketed to deliver the highest possible ratings, share and value to the broadcasters and their viewers and advertisers. Additionally, he will work with independent producers and distributors to explore ways in which SPTI can develop distribution opportunities.

Orengo assumes responsibilities previously held by John Cuddihy, SPTI's svp, sales & distribution, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Orengo was SPTI's regional director, Mexico, where he opened and established the local SPTI advertising sales operation in Mexico City, which serves as sales agent for six basic cable networks on the HBO Latin America platform รข AXN, Sony Entertainment Television, A&E Mundo, AXN, E! Entertainment Television, The History Channel and The Warner Channel. From 1999 to 2000, he was SPTI's director, pan-regional sales, based in Miami. He joined SPTI's Miami office in 1998 as senior account exec.
Prior to SPTI, Orengo was international advertising sales exec for CBS Telenoticias in Miami from 1997 to 1998 and account supervisor for La Agencia de Orci & Asociados in Los Angeles from 1995 to 1997. He began his career at Telemundo in Los Angeles as marketing manager from 1993 to 1994 and sales account exec from 1994 to 1995.
