Shockwave.com Launches Exclusive Shockmachine Game Collections
Shockwave.com has launched two new game collections exclusively for the Shockmachine player, spearheading the companys push into direct-to-consumer paid content distribution. The move is part of the companys strategy to sell content to their registered audience of more than 40 million users. Now, users can play offline, whereas previously they could only play on the Shockwave.com Website. The MIDWAY CLASSICS game collection, co-developed by Shockwave.com and Digital Eclipse Software, Inc., and licensed from Midway, consists of ten arcade games, including popular and heavily played titles like SPY HUNTER, RAMPAGE and JOUST. The SHOCKWAVE.COM FAVORITES collection is a selection of ten online games including DEER HUNTER and gameLabs LOOP. Also included are two internally developed new games: TAMALE LOCO, a SUPER MARIO-type game with a running story line, and DJ FU WAX ATTACK, a music-mixing and Kung Fu inspired fighting game. (AWN had a special preview when Shockwave was in town and we gave them a thumbs up! Very clever!) The game collections represent the next step in game distribution for the company, providing more robust and high quality offline gaming for the more casual, less hard core gamer crowd already familiar with the Shockwave.com gaming environment. With the launch of the Shockmachine premiere game collections, Shockwave.coms long-term relationship with its audience is approaching a new level as we offer a richer, more complete gaming experience, said Mike Edmunds, senior vice president of interactive products at AtomShockwave. By being among the pioneers in offering paid content on the Web, Shockwave.com is again leading the industry, meeting consumers demand for high quality casual games in a convenient offline environment. The two collections, priced at $19.95 each or $29.95 for both, are available for download at www.shockwave.com.
