SGI Makes Key Management Appointments
Technology leader SGI announced new appointments within its senior management team, including the appointment of Hal Covert as the company's President. "Since joining SGI, Hal has had a positive impact on our operational execution and the efficiency of related business processes," said Bob Bishop, chairman and chief executive officer. "By broadening his role, I expect Hal to have an even larger impact on the company and drive us more quickly towards our business goals." Covert, age 54, will assume the role of president, a new position, and will have responsibility for business and operational execution. He has served as the company's chief financial officer since July 2000 and will continue in that role. Prior to joining SGI, Covert was chief financial officer at Red Hat and executive vice president and chief financial officer of Adobe Systems, Inc. Bishop also announced today the appointment of Warren Pratt as chief operating officer, reporting to Covert. Pratt, age 47, is a nine-year veteran of SGI and has served as executive vice president of engineering and manufacturing since May 2000. Together, Covert and Pratt comprise the office of the president and will oversee the company's principal functional units including sales, customer service, marketing, engineering, manufacturing, finance and administration. Both appointments are effective immediately.
