Sesame Workshop Names Themed Entertainment Head
Peter van Roden joins Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization, in the newly created position of vp, themed entertainment, reporting to Karen Gruenberg, exec vp of content.
"With the Workshops numerous theme parks, attractions and live shows around the world, Peter's extensive experience in the childrens entertainment and education fields will be a huge asset to the organization," said Gruenberg. "Peter will lead the team in expanding and strengthening our relationships in these mediums, creating unforgettable family outing experiences with our characters."
Recently van Roden was exec producer and project manager for Sesame Workshop of the SESAME STREET 4D MOVIE ATTRACTION that opened last month at Universal Studios Japan. He has been a freelance producer and worked as a consultant to several technology companies for the past two year. Preceding that, van Roden was chief web officer of bigchalk.com and was president/ceo of HomeworkCentral.com, a study site with educational resources for students, teachers and parents. He spent six years with The Jim Henson Co. as svp of production and themed entertainment where he oversaw production on film and television programming such as BEAR IN THE BIG BLUE HOUSE.
