Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III Hits DVD/Blu-ray
Press Release from Warner Home Video
Seth Green and Matthew Senreich's Emmy Award-winning Robot Chicken and Adult Swim bring the third and final episode in the beloved Annie Award-winning Robot Chicken: Star Wars series to DVD, and for the first time, Blu-ray Disc, with the release of Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III. A must-own for fans of Star Wars, humor and all things awesome, the DVD is bursting with over three hours of bonus material including an special appearance by the man himself, Mr. George Lucas, and two features exclusive to the Blu-ray release. Robot Chicken: Star Wars: Episode III DVD and Blu-ray release will hit retail on July 12, 2011 for the suggested retail prices of $14.98 and $19.89, respectively.
Robot Chicken: Star Wars: Episode III broke from the format of the two previous Emmy-nominated specials. "We told a more linear story this time that covers all the Star Wars films," says Green. "We wanted to show the Star Wars universe through the eyes of our Robot Chicken: Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper," says Senreich. "We wanted to get the unique perspective from people who just want to rule the universe." This special again fuses the satirical sensibilities of the Robot Chicken stop-motion sketch comedy television series with the characters of the Star Wars universe.
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III features Zac Efron as Anakin Skywalker, Anthony Daniels (from the original Star Wars films) as C3PO, Mike Henry and Donald Glover all making their first appearance in Robot Chicken: Star Wars. Returning from the previous specials are: Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks , as well as Green, Senreich, Breckin Meyer, Seth MacFarlane, Dan Milano, Abe Benrubi, Donald Faison, Rachael Leigh Cook, Adrianne Pallicki, Eden Espinosa, Hugh Davidson, Bob Bergen, Keith Ferguson, Tom Kane and Zeb Wells.
Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III is created and executive produced by Green and Senreich and their Stoopid Monkey Productions. The duo also writes the series and Green provides many of the voices in the special and the series. The specials and the Robot Chicken series are all created in conjunction with ShadowMachine Films' Alex Bulkey and Corey Campodonico. Christian McKay directed the special and has also taken over directing the series. The special was written by series head writers/executive producers Douglas Goldstein and Tom Root, series scribes Mike Fasolo, Zeb Wells, Green, Senreich, frequent Robot Chicken actor/writer Breckin Meyer and frequent guest writers Hugh Sterbakov, Matthew Beans, Hugh Davidson, Geoff Johns, Dan Milano and Kevin Shinick.
Robot Chicken and Star Wars fans will cluck with delight at the bounty of bonus materials featured on both the Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III DVD and Blu-ray Disc including:
* Sunday in the Boardroom with George * Chicken Nuggets (sketch by sketch video commentary) * Behind-the-Scenes * Voice Recording Featurette * Skywalker Ranch Premiere Trip * Star Wars Celebration V Robot Chicken Panel * Writer's Room Featurette * Deleted Animatics With Video Intros * Audio Commentaries
