Cannes, France -- Komixx Entertainment Ltd (Komixx) announces an exclusive multi-book publishing deal with Random House Children’s Publishers UK (‘RHCP’) for the pre-school TV animation series, Toby’s Travelling Circus.
Toby’s Travelling Circus is a story based around an eight-year-old boy who runs his own magical travelling circus with his friends. The stop-frame animation series, produced by the award-winning Mackinnon & Saunders studios, premiered on Channel 5 milkshake! in September 2012. Initial audience ratings are proving its appeal not only to a pre-school audience but, as importantly, their parents.
Komixx has agreed the multi-book deal with RHCP, which includes picture books, reader books, activity books and annuals. RHCP has secured both print and digital publishing rights including eBooks for world, all languages and will work closely with Komixx and other licenses on launch programme for 2014.
Andrew Cole-Bulgin, Joint CEO and Head of Film & TV, Komixx Entertainment, said: “With the success of the TV show, and commissioning of a second TV series by Channel 5, the publishing deal with Random House spotlights the appeal of the stand-out characters in the pre-school arena, both on and off screen. The entirely UK-based TV production continues to exceed our expectations, and the book transfer means Toby will now reach an even wider audience.”
Philippa Dickinson, Managing Director, RHCP, said: “I’m delighted to bring Toby’s Travelling Circus into the Random House portfolio. Our exclusive publishing deal is in recognition of the appeal of these wonderful characters, and strength of the Komixx-owned brand. The opportunities for taking Toby to a wider pre-school audience are very exciting for both companies and something we couldn’t resist."
