Rain Announces Element V2 Video Workstation
Press Release by Rain
Ringwood, NJ – Rain Computers, designer of computers for creative people, has released the much anticipated follow up to its flagship Element line, Element V2 Video Editing Workstation. The new super computer offers the ultimate in performance and expandability for video, broadcast and animation production featuring two Intel Xeon processors for 8 or 12 cores, up to 48 gigabytes of memory, room for 12 terabytes of RAID storage and NVIDIA Quadro workstation graphics.
Element V2 also boasts the distinction of being officially certified by software giant Adobe (NYSE: ADBE) for their hugely popular Creative Suite software including such venerable titles as Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Illustrator.
Rain’s new visual production powerhouse is built on the Intel’s Xeon chipset and processor platform long regarded as de rigueur for professional workstation computers. Options include two quad- or 6-core processors, 48 gigabytes of triple channel memory, 12 terabytes of high performance hard drive storage and NVIDIA Quadro workstation-class graphics designed specifically for 2D and 3D production in industry-standard applications such as Premiere Pro, AutoCAD, Maya and NewTek TriCaster.
“We love the process of creating a powerhouse like Element V2. It’s really about asking yourself, ‘if the sky’s the limit with this thing, what should we put in it?’, commented Kevin Jacoby, CEO of Rain Computers. “What comes out is a no-holds-barred, crazy powerful computer that gives the user the opportunity to do anything he can think of without worrying if the technology can keep up. It really symbolizes Rain’s mission.”
The new Element V2 isn’t just about the power you get, though. It’s also about the heat and noise that isn’t there. With two processors, twelve memory chips, six hard drives and who knows how many expansion cards plugged into its seven high-bandwidth PCI Express 2.0 slots, one can just imagine the torrents of hot air and cacophony of fan noise. But Element V2 benefits from Rain’s Quiet Cool Design, a long held tenant of Rain Computers engineering that combines aluminum construction, intelligent cooling and balanced component architecture to eliminate much of the excess heat and noise produced by such a powerful system.
Interestingly, one of the most compelling features of Element V2, namely the RainCare Encompass Creative Computer Support, is available with all Rain computers. Free with Element V2 for 30 days and optionally extended in yearly increments, Creative Computer Support accounts for the “grey area” between the computer, software and hardware that make up a user’s complete solution in an effort to eliminate the vicious circle of support phone calls all too common to creative professionals and novices alike.
