Postcards From Buster Producer Dies at 45
E. Natatcha Estebanez, series producer for PBS' POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER, passed away from the complications of a metastasized sarcoma on March 15, 2007, reports the Big Cartoon Database. She was 45. Previously, she survived battles with Hodgkin's disease and breast cancer.
In 2005 and 2006, she was part of the team nominated for Daytime Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Children's Series for POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER.
Born San Juan, Puerto Rico, she came to the U.S. on scholarship to Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. On another scholarship, she attended London College for three years. She returned to U.S. when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's. She later earned a master's in visual communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania.
Before POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER, Estebanez produced many documentaries and cultural programs about Latino life in the U.S. for such networks as PBS and Discovery Channel. For her work on LA PLAZA, a WGBH series about Latino culture, she received four New England Emmy Awards.
She resided in Belmont, Massachusetts, with her husband, composer and musician Claudio Ragazzi, and their 8-year-old daughter, Gabriela. In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by her father Eduardo of Spain, and her brother Eduardo of Miami. The funeral will be private.
