Universal Pictures Marketing Creative Operations has brought in Scott Abraham and Jeff Hutchinson as vps while upping Jonathan Q. Kern and Stan Scoggins to vp positions as well.
Abraham joins Universal as vp of creative advertising, where he will work closely with the creative marketing execs to oversee the development of all in-house audio-visual advertising materials for Universal Pictures domestic and international theatrical releases and home video releases. An entertainment advertising exec for the past 12 years at such well-known trailer companies as Craig Murray Productions and Aspect Ratio, Abraham served as an editor, producer and creative director.
Hutchinson and Kern, both named vps for post-production, will oversee TV spots, trailers and product reels for domestic and international theatrical marketing and home video.
Hutchinson spent a 20-year stint at the Howard Anderson Co., the past eight as sevp, overseeing the daily operations for the company. Hutchison was involved in transforming the company from a traditional film optical house into one of the leaders of digital trailers and effects.
Kern has been director of creative operations for Universal Pictures Marketing since 2000, when the company decided to bring all finishing work in-house. He first joined Universal in September 1997 as a post-production supervisor, overseeing finishing of TV spots. Kern began his career in the spring of 1989 as a runner at the trailer production company Aspect Ratio Inc., working his way up to post-production supervisor, finishing trailers, TV spots and product reels. In 1996, he left to freelance and worked at such trailer houses as Kaleidoscope, Creative Domain, Cimarron Group, Seiniger, MGM and Post Haste.
As vp, worldwide digital assets, Scoggins is responsible for overseeing the management of all digital assets from Universal's domestic and international theatrical and home video releases. He first joined Universal in 1999 as director, digital assets. Prior to that, he was an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1995, having served as manager, contributor database and federal filing for the Feinstein for Senate campaign from 1990 to 1993.
