Meridith Brown has joined Curious Pictures
in New York City as exec producer, head of production to supervise all aspects of production at the TV series and commercial production company, reporting to the four partners. She will oversee all aspects of live action, animation and post-production.
Brown will also continue as exec producer for Tomato in North America. Curious Pictures has been Tomato Films production company in the U.S. since 1995. She joined Tomato in 1996 to manage the explosive growth in U.S. television production for the British design collective line, producing its projects and supervising a corps of producers.
We have an increasing range of work going on here; spots, shows, on-air promo and some things that dont fit into the usual categories, said Curious Pictures partner Richard Winkler. We have recently realized that to watch over it all we needed someone with deep experience, great taste and a calm, grounded style.
Previously Brown worked as a producer supporting Curious directors Randy Akers and Chris Harvey. She has also produced commercials for feature and documentary filmmaker Michael Apted, WEST WING director Vince Misiano and commercial director Danny Boyle.
She earns the respect of every agency producer and creative team that she works with, added Curious partner David Starr. She is extraordinarily production savvy particularly in live action and computer animation which continue to be the two most important techniques for our commercial production. She is also highly respected by the crews that she works with. She enjoys scouting new talent and giving them opportunities.
With her new responsibilities, Brown will no longer line produce. She will oversee a group of staff and free lance producers for commercials and for production of animated television series, CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR on Cartoon Network, WRONG COAST (a new stop-motion series for American Movie Classics) and an animated Mattel television special.
