Monsters, Inc. Ride Opens in Tokyo Disneyland
Wednesday was the opening day at Tokyo Disneyland for "Monsters, Inc. Ride and Go Seek!," reports AFP.
Park operator Oriental Land Co. spent $100 million (10 billion yen) on the ride, which is the first to open at the park in five years. Panasonic sponsored the attraction, located in Tomorrowland.
Similar to the "Monsters Inc. Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!" ride at Disney's California Adventure in Anaheim, Calif., "Ride and Go Seek" takes guests through the world of the 2001 movie, only with more interactivity and sophistication.
Visitors at Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea were up 7.1 percent in the year ending March 31 from the previous year.
The park's last ride to open, in 2004, was "Buzz Lightyear's Astro Blasters," based on Disney-Pixar's TOY STORY.
