MIPCOM News: CINAR Offers Up Combos for MIPCOM
CINAR, which always takes a big animated presence at MIPCOM, comes with two new combo live-action/animated series as well as a CALLILOU feature-length movie.
Moving toward a slightly older audience for CINAR, the Canadian producer/distributor is offing 13 half hours of THE STRIP. This half-hour live-action drama with some animation chronicles the lives of 14-year-old fraternal twins Cally and Lance. Together, they discover a comic book that gives them clues about the future of their lives. These twins, with nothing in common except their genes, soon find they are linked to the characters in the mysterious comic book; their animated alter egos have a life of their own and a hidden agenda that threatens the twins' very existence.
CINAR is also presenting POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER, 40 half hours of a live-action and animated series. A spin-off of Emmy award-winning series, ARTHUR, POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER follows the adventures of Arthurs best friend Buster and his airline pilot father as they fly the fictional Latin rock group Los Viajeros on a concert tour of the United States, with forays into Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Buster will stay in touch with his friends back home via first-person video postcards in the form of live-action, POV-style footage of the people and places visited in the show.
Narrated by Buster, these video adventures are woven seamlessly into each animated story. The series promotes cultural understanding and literacy, language, and communication skills, with a special emphasis on non-native English speakers. POSTCARDS FROM BUSTER is produced by WGBH Boston, Marc Brown Studios and CINAR.
Share the warmth of the holidays with Caillou in his first feature-length movie. Caillou, a curious four-year-old, continues his journey of growing up, with a unique way of relating to the world around him in CINARs 70-minute, CALLILLOUS HOLIDAY MOVIE.
Other offerings include the TV series: CALLILOU, ARTHUR, MONA THE VAMPIRE, CREEPSCHOOL and POTATOES AND DRAGONS.
