Mipcom Gets Curious About Joel
Curious Pictures is currently in production on HEY JOEL, a 13 x 22-minute adult-themed sitcom that focuses on the behind the scenes action at a music talk show. The series is being developed in conjunction with VH1 and is scheduled to air on VH1 in the U.S. and Chum in Canada. Jon Cryer (PRETTY IN PINK) voices Joel Stein, the obnoxious host of a 3-minute rock-star interview show on VH1. Artist Robert Risko designed the characters, who include Joel's producer Michele; loyal P.A. Kevin; VH1 star (and Joel's nemesis) Leif; and Z, the no-nonsense head of programming. In addition, the show will feature several rock stars every week, including the likes of Jewel, Lenny Kravitz and Moby (voiced by sound alikes). Original music for the show is created by the rock band Fountains of Wayne. Curious and Blueprint Entertainment are partners on HEY JOEL and will be meeting with international broadcasters and distributors at MIPCOM. Curious is also at work on the new series for Cartoon Network CODENAME: KIDS NEXT DOOR. The new animated action-comedy series from creator Tom Warburton (SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY, PEPPER ANN) is scheduled to premiere on Friday, December 6, 2002. The series follows the escapades of five eager yet bumbling 10 year-olds as they fight against the forces of tyrannical adults.
