Man with the Screaming Brain Film Arrives on Sci-Fi Channel & Dark Horse Comics
Bruce Campbells telemovie, MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN, debuted on the Sci-Fi Channel, Sept. 10, 2005, at 9:00 pm and will be rebroadcast Sept. 15 at 9:00 pm as part of SCI FI's original movie franchise.
Self-proclaimed B-movie star Bruce Campbell of EVIL DEAD, ARMY OF DARKNESS and BUBBA HO-TEP fame co-wrote MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN with David Goodman, and also directed and starred in it as well. The film chronicles the adventures of an uptown banker who is brought back to life by a mad scientist with humorously bizarre results (www.scifi.com/screamingbrain).
Earlier this year, Dark Horse Comics released a directors cut version of the film in comic form. Campbell put the version of the script he wanted to shoot, without budgetary constraints, into the hands of artists Rick Remender and Hilary Barta. A collection of the four-issue comic series will be released on Nov. 16 with a retail price of $13.95. Each issue of the series (http://www.darkhorse.com/profile/profile.php?sku=10-820) features an alternate cover by the likes of Humberto Ramos, Mike Mignola, and other superstar artists itching to work with Campbell.
"MAN WITH THE SCREAMING BRAIN is a story of greed, betrayal and revenge in the former Eastern European block, said Campbell. William Cole, wealthy industrialist, goes looking for a tax shelter in the wrong part of the world and winds up the guinea pig for a mad scientist, having his brain merged with that of Yegor, a former KGD operative. The two couldn't be more different, but they share one thing - both were killed by the same woman. William and Yegor form an unlikely partnership to track down their common nemesis. If I were pitching it in Hollywood, I'd say it's THE OUT-OF-TOWNERS with a brain transplant."
SCI FI's original movie franchise is the channel's homage to the drive-in, a re-imagination of cinema's earliest sci-fi treats. Like the classic sci-fi fare of yore, these films over escapist fun while simultaneously challenging the imagination. The channel will supercharge Saturdays in 2006 with 28 original action movies up from 2005's slate of 23.
