LOS ANGELES -- LOOK Effects has hired industry veteran Everett Burrell as visual effects supervisor. Burrell will be based in LOOK’s Los Angeles headquarters where he will supervise current and future feature film projects, beginning early next month.
Everett brings more than 25 years of experience to his new position. He began perfecting his craft under effects industry luminaries Stan Winston, Greg Cannom and Rick Baker. Optic Nerve, the makeup effects company founded by Everett and John Vulich, gained attention for its work on such features as George Romero’s The Dark Half and Tom Savini‘s remake of Night of the Living Dead. The alien creatures and prosthetic makeups of the science fiction television show Babylon 5 earned Everett an Emmy award. Everett’s computer graphics skills led him to join Flat Earth Productions where he produced visual effects for television shows, including Hercules: The Legendary Journies, Ally McBeal, Charmed and the mini-series, Dune.
In 2003, to further his experience on feature films, Everett joined premier visual effects company Café FX. His combined experience in practical and digital effects made him an ideal liaison between the on-set film production crew and the digital artists back at the studio. He supervised visual effects for such films as Blade III, Sin City, Hellboy and The Mist. Everett’s he also supervised the visual effects for Pan’s Labyrinth. In 2007 Everett left Café FX to work as a freelance visual effects supervisor. Since then he has been responsible for the effects on Max Payne, Battle: Los Angeles, Prometheus, Warm Bodies and most recently, A Good Day To Die Hard, the latest of the Bruce Willis Die Hard films.
“During my stint as on-set supervisor for Warm Bodies, I had the opportunity to work with LOOK,” said Burrell. “I was very impressed with their work and their team. Over the years, they’ve done great work and been part of some very interesting projects. 2013 is going to be an exciting year with some outstanding projects on the horizon.”
