NEW YORK -- Little Airplane Productions has signed Jada Toys as the new Global Master Toy Partner (excluding China and South Korea) for Small Potatoes, further extending the liensing reach of the hit preschool series.
Under the deal Jada, who also licenses Hello Kitty, will manufacture and distribute a range of Small Potatoes toys including: plush, electronic plush toys play sets, figures, musical instruments, and inflatable toys.
Jada Toys joins existing Small Potatoes licensees Penguin Young Readers for publishing, Universal Studios Home Entertainment for home entertainment distribution and CEACO Gamewright for puzzles.
The announcement comes as the first range of Small Potatoes products hit retail this month. Penguin Young Readers Group released the first three books of their twelve book program on April 18. The first titles include “Meet The Band,” a board book, “The Small Potatoes Rock Spudstock,” a storybook, and “Stuck on Potatoes,” a sticker book.
Following its U.S. broadcast premiere in February on Disney Junior, Universal is releasing the DVD of the film Meet the Small Potatoes this summer. The film has also been shown theatrically in New York, Boston and Los Angeles.
This latest signing coupled with the existing digital and product activity will bolster Small Potatoes’ presence in the market place. Currently screening in 23 countries including Disney Junior in the US and CBeebies in the UK, Small Potatoes also has a prolific digital profile with over 1.6 million “likes” on its interactive Facebook page.
Little Airplane President Josh Selig said: “We are delighted that Jada Toys has come on board as our new master global toy partner for the Small Potatoes. The brand continues to evolve in the broadcast, digital space and theatrical space and Jada’s activity will really complement our ongoing licensing strategy and further cement the Small Potatoes’ position in the market place.”
Marlene Cuesta Vice President, Licensing Jada Toys said: “We’re excited to be partners with Little Airplane’s preschool hit Small Potatoes.”
