London/Moscow – 16 December 2010: MTV Networks International (MTVNI), a division of Viacom Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), and OJSC WebTV, which is a part of WebMediaGroup internet-holding, one of the largest players on the market of user services and electronic commerce, are pleased to announce a deal to distribute 14 seasons of South Park on-line, on one of Russia’s largest entertainment video portals - Zoomby.ru. This is the first on-line distribution of South Park in Russia, and Zoomby.ru is the first website licensed to distribute the popular animated series on the market. The content is available free to users online.
Inna Kuzyakova, marketing director for WebTV, commented: “For Zoomby.ru, co-operation with MTVNI is the first partnership with an international major. It is an important achievement to bring one of the most popular comedy animated sitcoms to the Russian Internet. And of course, working with one of the world’s leading media companies is a great experience for us, and we look forward to working with MTVNI on other projects.”
"We see huge potential in expanding our legal distribution in Russia to reach wherever users want to watch our shows whether by television, video on demand, online or mobile. Our partnership with Zoomby is hence an important step in this direction and we look forward to seeing a lot more to come," said Nicholas Walters, General Manager Russia, MTVNI.
Created by comic geniuses Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning, adult-oriented series South Park features the misadventures of four foul-mouthed, troublemaking young boys in a small town nestled in the Colorado Rockies, and presents in a humorous way of presenting and satirising various topical events happening around the world.
