Press Release from Cartoon Art Museum
San Francisco, CA: The Cartoon Art Museum hosts cartoonist Joshua Ellingson on Saturday, August 14, 2010 from 1pm to 3pm as part of its ongoing Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum visitors will be offered the chance to talk Ellingson about cartooning and view his work. This event is free and open to the public.
Joshua Ellingson has been a Bay Area resident since 1999. With a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design, Ellingson’s work ranges from illustration to animation, graphic design to packaging. He has been a freelance artist since 2003 with clientele including Wired Magazine, cNet Networks, Hasbro, the San Francisco Bay Guardian and Adobe Systems, Inc., among many others. His work has also been exhibited at solo shows at Kid Robot, Super 7 and most recently at Mission Comics and Art.
Most recently he has done an alternate cover for the third issue of the wildly popular Image comic, TURF, written by BBC celebrity Jonathan Ross and illustrated by Tommy Lee Edwards, which will be released in early August. Ellingson is also a featured artist for the BART system's upcoming artist showcase with a series entitled "The First Ride" on display in stations this summer.

The Cartoon Art Museum regularly hosts professional cartoonist in its galleries as part of its Cartoonist-in-Residence program. Museum patrons see cartoonists at work on their latest projects and learn everything you ever wanted to know about cartoonists–but were afraid to ask. Past featured Cartoonists-in-Residence include Paul Madonna (All Over Coffee), Keith Knight (K Chronicles, (th)ink), Paige Braddock (Jane’s World), Michael Jantze (The Norm) and Jimmy Gownley (Amelia Rules) among many others.
