THE INCREDIBLE HULK On DVD And Blu-ray
From the Marvel Universe of the world's most popular superheroes comes the $234.6 million worldwide summer hit that fans have been waiting for as THE INCREDIBLE HULK blasts onto DVD and Blu-ray Hi-Def from Universal Studios Home Ent. and Marvel Studios on October 21. Filled with unstoppable action, spectacular visual effects, and non-stop thrills, THE INCREDIBLE HULK is directed by Louis Leterrier and features an all-star cast including Academy Award nominees Edward Norton and Tim Roth, Liv Tyler and Academy Award winner William Hurt. The visually spectacular, super-charged release will be available in three versions: a three-disc Special Edition DVD available for a limited time; a two-disc Blu-ray release, offered in collectible 3D lenticular packaging for a limited time; and a single-disc DVD edition.
Both the Special Edition DVD and Blu-ray releases include more than two hours of bonus extras, including an exclusive, never-before-seen alternate opening and a digital copy of the film that is iPod, PC or MAC compatible. The two- disc Blu-ray set will also include all-new, interactive features including My Chat, an innovative application that allows viewers to communicate with friends and family while watching the film for a fully immersive experience.
The suspense-filled, action-packed story is the epic tale of Dr. Bruce Banner, whose life has been changed forever by a dose of gamma radiation that transforms him when provoked into the terrifying and powerful Hulk. Though pursued by military leaders intent on harnessing his unbelievable strength as a secret weapon, Banner must call upon the hero within himself to battle an equally powerful adversary, The Abomination.
VFX Supervisor Kurt Williams and VFX Producer Paul Molles oversaw about 800 shots produced by seven different facilities. Rhythm & Hues
(including R&H India) produced 224 character animation shots, plus 10 composites, while Hydraulx realized 248 shots featuring complex composites, CG environments, CG helicopter and a full CG Abomination transformation. Other key vendors included Soho VFX (114 shots -- composites and CG environments) and Image Engine (75 shots -- blood drop shot, plus a CG environment for Rhythm & Hues). Lola VFX, G Creative and X1 also worked on the project.
One of the first issues to address was the original HULK movie and its many years of visual development. "We viewed Ang Lee's film with a lot of respect, especially as it related to the visual effects work," Williams noted. "There were several new goals from the beginning that we thought would improve the character in our movie. Louis' style of filmmaking is dramatically different, and stylistically our film was going to be different by virtue of that. From day one, we decided to redesign the look of The Hulk
to start. We returned to a lot of the original material from the comic books and felt like we needed to push the character visually and behaviorally, giving him a greater range of emotions. In order to do that, we needed a new look for the character making him more accessible to the audience visually. Banner's character arc in the movie would be complete by maximizing the thread between Banner and Hulk."
The single-disc edition includes the film and deleted scenes. In addition to these components, both the Special Edition DVD and the Blu-ray Hi-Def release will include the following:

SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET On Blu-ray
On October 21, Paramount Home Ent. will release the Golden Globe winning cinematic masterpiece from director Tim Burton SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET on Blu-ray.
Re-imagined by Burton and starring Golden Globe winner (and Academy Award nominated) actor Johnny Depp, Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning Broadway hit never looked and sounded so good! Also starring Helena Bonham Carter (FIGHT CLUB), Alan Rickman (HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX), Timothy Spall (ENCHANTED), and Sacha Baron Cohen (BORAT), SWEENEY TODD tells the ghoulish tale of the infamous demon barber as he seeks revenge by the blade of his trusty razors. This two-disc Special Edition DVD is packed with blood-pumping special features including in-depth looks at the musical and its history, the making of the film, and a whole lot more! Grab your razors, warm the oven, and prepare some very special meat pies as SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET comes to Blu-ray. "You, sir! How about a shave?"
Luckily for The Moving Picture Co. (MPC) of London, where Burton now resides, he hired the hot visual effects studio to help transform the stages of Pinewood Studios into the inky, craggy streets of a much-darker London of the past. Digital Effects Supervisor Gary Brozenich talks to VFXWORLD
about the challenges of making the director's vision come to life so that the virtual environments and nastier vfx shots in SWEENEY TODD look entirely seamless.

CASINO ROYALE Three-Disc Collector's Edition On DVD And Blu-ray
From Sony Pictures Home Ent., CASINO ROYALE (vfx by Peerless Camera) introduces James Bond before he holds his license to kill. But Bond is no less dangerous, and with two professional assassinations in quick succession, he is elevated to "00" status. "M" (Judi Dench), head of the British Secret Service, sends the newly-promoted 007 on his first mission that takes him to Madagascar, the Bahamas and eventually leads him to Montenegro to face Le Chiffre, a ruthless financier under threat from his terrorist clientele, who is attempting to restore his funds in a high-stakes poker game at the Casino Royale. "M" places Bond under the watchful eye of the Treasury official Vesper Lynd. At first skeptical of what value Vesper can provide, Bond's interest in her deepens as they brave danger together. Le Chiffre's cunning and cruelty come to bear on them both in a way Bond could never imagine, and he learns his most important lesson: Trust no one.
For this origin story,
director Martin Campbell wanted to limit the use of digital effects to an absolute minimum, bringing the franchise back to its hard edge, low-tech FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE days.
To this purpose, they enlisted visual effects supervisor Steve Begg, a seasoned expert in miniature effects (BATMAN BEGINS). "When I came in, the original idea was to do as much in-camera as possible. This, of course, is not exactly what happened. They had initially planned for about 60/80 digital vfx shots, but I knew this would go up in post-production. Well, it eventually went up to 580 shots. Still, there was a lot of traditional model work featured in the film, and the stunt work was all for real, albeit assisted by wire and rig removal," Begg said.
DVD Special Features Include:
