Henry Selick Joins Carl's Fine Films
Carl's Fine Films, a San Francisco-based commercial animation company, has signed director Henry Selick to its staff of commercial directors. Animation superstar Selick's credits include THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS, JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH and MONKEYBONE. Among other successful ad campaigns, he created the original MTV station IDs. He has won top prizes at Annecy, Ottawa and the Annies plus NIGHTMARE was nominated for an Academy Award for best special effects.
"We couldn't be happier, having Henry on our team," said Carl Willat, ceo of Carl's Fine Films. "Henry really is the best in the business. I think the stunning stop-motion work in his films will never be surpassed, unless he does it. The addition of his name just goes to underscore the 'Fine' in Carl's Fine Films."
"I've admired Carl's piano playing and sense of humor for years; and, you'll have to admit, he's not too bad looking for a vegetarian insomniac," said Selick. "And when it comes to animation, Carl's no boring technician; he's a helluva lot of fun to work with while maintaining a frightening dedication to excellence. I can't wait to do our first commercial together!"
Recently founded by Willat and executive producer Sandra Kimberly, Carl's Fine Films is an independent animated commercial and production facility. As for their other projects, the company continues to work on the Hershey's Kisses campaign through New York-based Ogilvy & Mather.
