Gail Berman Departs Paramount Pictures President Post
Paramount Pictures president Gail Berman is leaving her post, the trades have reported with confirmation from the company.
Paramount chairman/ceo Brad Grey announced this afternoon (Jan. 10, 2007) that Berman has exited her job, effective immediately. A reorganization of the studio's production structure will be announced shortly.
Berman, who joined Paramount in May 2005, had a number of films under her watch, including NACHO LIBRE, WORLD TRADE CENTER and the recently released FREEDOM WRITERS, that marked the beginning of a turnaround at Paramount.
Bernan had been president of entertainment for Fox Broadcasting Co., before joining Paramount Pictures and found the transition into the film arena a rocky one, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
Grey said, "Gail's dedication in the last 18 months has been invaluable during this important and historic time at Paramount. We respect and appreciate her contributions in reshaping the direction of Paramount Pictures."
"From my days on Broadway to my time at Regency Television and Fox and then Paramount, my passion has always been creating exciting entertainment," Berman said. "I'm grateful to Brad Grey for the chance to help bring great films to life and look forward to new professional opportunities ahead."
