Visual effects company Framestore won two awards for Best Visual Effects at the Clios earlier this week, taking silver for Qualcomm Snapdragon “Coming Soon” and bronze for the groundbreaking simulation VFX used to dismantle the Nissan Altima in “Wouldn’t It Be Cool.” The announcement follows on the heels of Framestore’s four Ficci wins in March.
Both of the Clio winners are a product of Framestore’s New York studio, with the Nissan Altima spot one of a trio of collaborations with TBWA\CHIAT\DAY, RSA Films and Director Carl Erik Rinsch, while Snapdragon was a full Framestore production with Ogilvy & Mather LA, directed by Framestore’s Murray Butler and David Mellor.
“To collaborate with the team at Ogilvy on the script and the development of a brand icon was great,” said Snapdragon director Murray Butler. “I'm very proud of how it turned out -- it's not everyday we get to play with castles, crossbows and shrinking dragons. I thought if I don't enjoy this one, I should go home now.”
