In Japan, DINOSAUR took the top spot with a gross of US$1.15 million, increasing its cume to $3.62 million. In third, VERTICAL LIMIT collected another $980,996 to raise it Japanese cume to $3.05 million. THE 6TH DAY claimed the fifth slot with a gross of $870,359, advancing its Japanese cume to $1.54 million. In sixth, WHAT LIES BENEATH floated $665,857 more, pushing its Japanese cume to $1.97 million. HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS snatched seventh place with a ticket take of $566,959, growing its Japanese cume to $915,755. In ninth, THE EXORCIST possessed an additional $440,242, lifting its Japanese cume to $2.72 million. Rounding out the top ten in Japan was yet another installment of the GODZILLA franchise entitled GODZILLA X MEGAGUILUS, which grossed $349,512, raising its two-week total to $762,500. After four weeks in France, DINOSAUR remained in #1, grossing $3.28 million thereby elevating its cume to $19.05 million. In second, CHICKEN RUN flew in another $2.56 million, escalating its two-week French cume to $5.29 million. In sixth, POKEMON 2000 (billed as POKEMON 2 in France) debuted with a gross of $991,634. THE GRINCH grabbed ninth place with a gross of $693,518, bringing its French cume to $3.12 million. POKEMON 2000, however, made a first place premiere in Germany, grossing $3.43 million. In third, THE 6TH DAY took home $1.96 million, pushing its German cume to $4.81 million. CHARLIE'S ANGELS charmed another $1.2 million out of German movie fans in fourth, increasing its cume to $9.48 million. In fifth, THE GRINCH wrapped up $948,265, pushing its German cume to $2.25 million. In Germany, Disney's reissued THE JUNGLE BOOK grossed $677,099, climbing its two-week total to $1.39 million. Closing out the top ten, DINOSAUR added $609,741 to its German cume of $12.27 million.
