German production house Corazon Int'l and French production firm Les Petites Lumieres are teaming up to produce UFO IN HER EYES, reports VARIETY [1]. Based on a novel by Xiaolu Guo, the story follows the aftermath of a Chinese villager's close encounter.
Run by Fatih Akin, Corazon will fund 80% of the project. Other financing came from the Rotterdam Festival Hubert Bals Fund, the Franco-German Co-Production Fund and Filmfoerderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.
Guo will direct with the film going into production later this year. Corazon co-head Klaus Maeck is producing.
The film has already sold to Germany's NDR and Arte.
