files/pictures/picture-35.jpgThe Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science is holding a series of screenings starting May 18th celebrating the films of 1939 titled "Hollywood's Greatest Year." Below is a list of the features and the animated shorts that will be playing with them.

GUNGA DIN - June 12 - THUGS WITH DIRTY MUGS (Tex Avery)
DARK VICTORY - June 15 - DANGEROUS DAN MCFOO (Tex Avery)
LOVE AFFAIR - June 22 - DETOURING AMERICA (nominee) (Tex Avery)
GOODBYE MR. CHIPS - June 29 - PEACE ON EARTH (nominee) (MGM)
NINOTCHKA - July 13 - THE AUTOGRAPH HOUND (Donald Duck)
MR. SMITH GOES TO WASHINGTON - July 20 -- SCRAPPY'S ADDED ATTRACTION (Columbia)
THE WIZARD OF OZ - Aug. 3 - THE UGLY DUCKLING - (Oscar winner) (Silly Symphony)
Curtain time for all features is 7:30 pm, and pre-show elements will begin at 7 pm.
Passes and tickets for “Hollywood’s Greatest Year: The Best Picture Nominees of 1939” are on sale now. Passes for all 10 films in the series are $25 for the general public and $20 for Academy members and students with a valid ID. Pass holders will also receive admission to a special screening of the 1939 epic GUNGA DIN on Friday, June 12.
Tickets are $5 for the general public and $3 for Academy members and students with a valid ID. They may be purchased online at
www.oscars.org , by mail or in person at the Academy during regular business hours or, depending on availability, on the night of the screening when the doors open at 6:30 pm.
