December 7, 2011: Kidscreen has just released its conference agenda for iKids 2012, a two-year-old Kidscreen Summit companion event that will be held on Monday, February 6 at the Hilton NY. The full program is now available online at summit.kidscreen.com/2012/ikids.html, featuring a rich lineup of presentations and panel discussions designed to explore the intersection of mobile content, social media and web entertainment in the kids space.
Highlights from the event’s Apps & Mobile track include a session that looks at the platform landscape and defines the best strategies for market entry (Platform Diving: Perspectives on Potential and Planning), a research presentation by London-based Kids Industries checking in on how kids & parents on the US and the UK are buying and engaging with apps (Exploring the Global App-etite: Part II), and a real-time dev session in which four kids app specialists will plan a features-heavy app for kids five to eight using the same creative brief (App Challenge: Choose Your Own Features).
The Online & Social Media track, meanwhile, will feature a virtual world case study on Disney’s Club Penguin, as well as a panel discussion about best social media marketing practices for kids brands (The In Crowd: Building Brands in Social Media Circles) and a research presentation looking at what kids are finding and sharing on YouTube (YouthTube: What Kids Watch on the World’s Biggest Network).
During breaks, iKids delegates can check out a variety of Digital Download sessions, showcasing kids brands, app developers, website operators and technology applications that are pushing the digital media envelope and gearing up for major growth in 2012.
And the day will wrap up on a navel-gazing note with So, What Do You Call This Thing, Anyways?, a panel discussion exploring why the future of kids media isn’t an app, an eBook, a video game, a virtual world or a TV show—it’s all of these things, only better.
