Eric Hanson Joins Gnomon Workshop To Produce DVDs
The Gnomon Workshop has announced the addition of Eric Hanson as senior producer of DVDs for the Gnomon Workshop Digital Library. Hanson brings a background in architecture, 3D imaging and more than a decade of experience in feature visual effects production.
Hanson said, "I'm thrilled to be joining the Gnomon Workshop to help produce what I believe will be the premiere DVD series on visual effects production available. We'll be working with some of the brightest minds and greatest talents in visual effects to take the Gnomon Workshop into new, exciting territories."
Says Alex Alvarez, Gnomon Workshop founder and director, "Eric's vast experience in visual effects and 3D image creation brings another critical dimension to The Gnomon Workshop's ability to serve visual artists and the visual effects industry."
As part of his new post, Hanson will be updating and broadening the content of the existing Digital Library. In addition, he will create the Gnomon Workshop Production Series, which will focus on real production issues with notable artists.
Beginning his career as an architect, Hanson pioneered 3D computer graphics techniques for some of the world's most respected architecture firms. Over the last decade, his work has ranged from historical recreations of Japan's Edo Period to futuristic visions of New York City. His visual effects design work can be seen in such films as MARS ODYSSEY, FIFTH ELEMENT, ATLANTIS, FANTASIA 2000, BICENTENNIAL MAN, MISSION TO MARS, HOLLOW MAN and CAST AWAY. He also helped build and assemble a digital Manhattan for the flooding sequences in THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, and was most recently the lighting lead on STEALTH, which is due to be released summer 2005.
In addition to visual effects production, Hanson teaches students at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects and the USC School of Cinema/TV. His curriculum ranges from introductory Maya to advanced Digital Sets, as well as spanning the entire field in his course "Visual Effects - Contemporary Approaches to Image Making" for USC School of Cinema/TV.
Created in 2000, The Gnomon Workshop creates instructional DVDs for the visual effects and art industries.
