Disney's King of the Elves Brought Back to Life
Walt Disney Animation Studios has hired Michael Markowitz (HORRIBLE BOSSES) to pen KING OF THE ELVES, reports Variety. Based on Philip K. Dick's short story, the plot follows a human that is made the king of a group of elves (and one dwarf) after he saves them from a troll attack. Chris Williams (BOLT) is overseeing the development.
Before Pixar joined the Disney ranks, BROTHER BEAR's Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker were set to direct a version for a 2012 release. But after John Lasseter took over, the project was put back into development.
The new version is being eyed for a holiday 2013 release.
Lasseter and Chuck Williams are producing.
