DIC & Publishing Partners Expand Program For Strawberry Shortcake
DIC Ent. (DIC) has announced the continued expansion of the STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE publishing program in 2004 with new licensees, as well as augmented programs with existing licensees scheduled for 2005.
DIC has added new STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE publishing licensees Scholastic, Leisure Arts Inc. and Meredith Corp. to the roster to roll out product in fall 2004. Scholastic plans to release a craft book HOW TO DRAW STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE and will launch the "Strawberry Shortcake and Friends Craft Club" continuity program in September. Leisure Arts Inc. is scheduled to debut Cross Stitch, Knit and Plastic Canvas crafting leaflets with potential additional titles to follow. Meredith Corp. will release two STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE sound books, A BERRY PICNIC SURPRIZE and THE SWEET TREATS CONTEST in October of this year.
DIC and American Greetings, the STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE brand creator, re-launched the property in 2003 with phenomenal success across all categories, generating more than $200 million in retail sales.
"DIC is thrilled with the results of the unique publishing programs developed by our partners and the retail success this past year," said Nancy Bassett, svp, Worldwide Consumer Products, DIC. "Strawberry Shortcake shows no signs of slowing down in the marketplace. We look forward to continuing to build dynamic programs for the brand that will secure its place among the top evergreen properties for girls for years to come."
