Pittsburgh, PA -- It’s grrrific news! Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, the irresistible new animated series that launched this September on PBS KIDS, is already a smash hit among young viewers and has captured the #3 spot across all networks for kids ages 2-5 this October according to Nielsen NPower national program ratings. The series tied for third place with The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That! and Super WHY, holding its own with two other PBS KIDS favorites. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood also made its debut on Nielsen’s top 10 list among moms (ladies of the household) 18-49 with kids under age 3 in October.
“We are delighted that Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood is striking a chord with our preschool audience and their parents,” said Bill Isler, President of The Fred Rogers Company. “The series brings Fred Rogers’ beloved legacy to a whole new generation – proving that his ideals and pioneering approach to connecting with children in a meaningful way are just as relevant today as they were when Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood first premiered more than 40 years ago.”
The first TV series inspired by the iconic, award-winning Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood stars 4-year-old Daniel Tiger, son of the original program’s Daniel Striped Tiger, who invites young viewers into the colorful, reimagined Neighborhood of Make-Believe to share his everyday adventures, learning fun and practical strategies and skills necessary for success in school and in life all along the way. The theme of every episode is reinforced by simple and catchy musical strategies that preschoolers and parents keep on singing and using in their daily lives. Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood brings together some of today’s top creators of quality children’s media. Co-Executive Producers are the series creator, Angela C. Santomero (Super WHY, Blue’s Clues), Kevin Morrison of The Fred Rogers Company and Vince Commisso of award-winning animation studio 9 Story Entertainment.
