Colette Scott to Head Kodak Educational Initiatives
Colette Scott has been promoted to worldwide manager of the education Segment of Kodak's Entertainment Imaging Division, where she will guide ambitious programs aimed at developing Kodak's ongoing commitment to providing support for the next generation of filmmakers and their mentors at film schools around the world.
In 1990, Kodak launched a worldwide program to support film schools and their students. Its endowment fund provides annual Eastman Scholarships for students and faculty. Kodak also offers film grants and generous discounts to schools and students. Not just a maker of film products, the company produces educational tools, such as filmmaking workshops and software products leveraging Kodak's color science. Kodak also supports mentorship programs that have brought influential filmmakers to schools and fosters internships for students. Kodak also sponsors many student film competitions, which have enabled many hundreds of them to attend important international film festivals.
We believe it is important for students to sharpen and demonstrate their artistic abilities by working with the latest film and post-production tools that will prepare them for the future, according to Scott. We are also leveraging our relationships in many different sectors of the industry in our endeavors to support film schools and their students.
A native of Syracuse, New York, Scott earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at Syracuse University and joined Kodak 20 years ago. She has served as a product engineer and has played a role in the design and development of the Eastman EXR, Kodak VISION and Kodak VISION2 color negative films.
Colette Scott brings a unique perspective to her role, said Eric Rodli, president of Kodak's Entertainment Imaging Division. She has a thorough grasp of film and hybrid motion imaging technologies and what the possibilities are for the future. She also has a global perspective, and will be able to draw on industry relationships around the world to help schools and students.
