Cloud Atlas Scores Another Million in Funding
German Federal Film Board has given Tom Tykwer and Andy and Lana Wachowski $1.35 million (€1 million) for their big screen adaptation of David Mitchell's CLOUD ATLAS, writes The Hollywood Reporter.
Based on David Mitchell's novel, the epic tale tells six interconnected stories that take place from the 19th century to a distant post-apocalyptic future. Each actor will play multiple roles in each time period.
The cast includes Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Ben Whishaw, Susan Sarandon and Hugo Weaving. The Wachowskis are producing alongside Grant Hill and Stefan Arndt. Philip Lee is the exec producer.
Warner Bros. holds the U.S. rights with Focus International shopping it internationally. A Company will co-fund the film and handle distribution in Russia and Eastern Europe.
