The American Cinematheque will be screening 2004 Sundance selection, SKY BLUE, on Aug. 6, 2004 and DEAD LEAVES on Aug. 7. SKY BLUE will be the L.A. premiere of the film, starting at 7:00 pm. LEAVES will screen at 3:00 pm.
Set in post-apocalyptic future, SKY BLUE chronicles a young rebel named Suha's rebellion against his society, which leaves the privileged few living the protected city Ecoban, while the rest of humanity languishes in a polluted wastelands. The film was directed by Moon-saeng Kim and produced by Maxmedia. Sunmin Park, writer/producer/director of the English-language adaptation, will be at the screening for a Q&A session following the film.
DEAD LEAVES is set in a satellite prison in space where unwanted mutants are kept. The film was produced by Production I.G. and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi. Manga Ent. is handling the release in the U.S. The first 30 people to enter the theater will receive a poster.
