Christmas Animation Cels On Sale at TheDeepArchives
New York/New Jersey's premiere Animation art gallery TheDeepArchives will be holding a release of Christmas holiday related cartoon animation cels, as well as original art by MAD MAGAZINE artist Paul Coker Jr. and Don Duga, the original designer and storyboard director of the Rankin/Bass holiday classic, FROSTY THE SNOWMAN.
Unearthed for the exhibition and sale are some rare vintage production cels of Ebenezer Scrooge from the 1970s Rankin/Bass Classic Cartoon, THE STINGIEST MAN IN TOWN, designed by Coker Jr. Also available at the event a large selection of original paintings by Coker, who is responsible for bringing to life such timeless characters as RUDOLPH THE RED-NOSED REINDEER, FROSTY THE SNOWMAN, THE HEAT MISER and THE SNOW MISER. Featured online and at the gallery's event, will also be an selection of storyboards and original animation art, by the Rankin/Bass film's continuity director, Don Duga, whose other Rankin/Bass credits included FROSTY THE SNOWMAN, SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN, THE YEAR WITHOUT A SANTA CLAUS and THE JACKSON FIVE.
A small selection of the artwork will be signed by original cast members from the various films, including Billie Mae Richards, the voice of Rudolph; Alfie Scopp, the voice of Charlie in the Box; and George S. Irving, the original voice of Heat Miter.
Running from Nov. 12, through Dec. 31, 2004, artwork will be available to be purchased both online and in person at the gallery
