The 21st annual Chicago International Childrens Film Festival is the only Academy-qualifying festival for childrens films in the world and the largest in North America. Categories include shorts, features, live-action, animation, television productions, documentaries, and child-produced and youth-produced work. There is no entry fee for submissions by filmmakers ages 6 to 13.
Submissions must have a production date of 2004, 2003, or 2002. Twenty prizes are awarded each year, including the Sara Lee Foundation's Best of Fest Award ($2,500), Montgomery Jury Prizes for Emerging Adult Director ($2,500) and Child Director ($2,500), the Liv Ullman Peace Prize ($500) and the Rights of the Child Prize ($500), in addition to prizes in 14 categories from both Adult and Children's Juries.
