reports that the unions behind the boycott of THE HOBBIT production in New Zealand have ended the do no work order. However, director Peter Jackson has said the damage done by the blacklist, led by New Zealand Actors' Equity, has already undermined confidence in the stability of the country's film industry. Warner Bros. will be coming to meet with him about moving the production somewhere else.
New Zealand Prime Minister John Key has said he wants to meet with Warner Bros. to urge them to keep the production in New Zealand.
Warner Bros. is producing the film in conjunction with New Line and MGM. Production is set to start somewhere in February.
Prior to New Zealand Actors' Equity decision to pull their boycott, over 1,000 film tech workers marched against the union.
