. Rights holder Richard P. Rubinstein and his New Amsterdam are weighing their options on whether to obtain Chase Palmer's script in turnaround or start over with new filmmakers. Rubeinstein said that once new financing has been secured he plans to talk with Palmer and director Pierre Morel, who were the last to develop the project.
The Frank Herbert novel follows the battle for control of a desert world where a special spice that enhances human awareness and extends life is mined. The sci-fi classic has been adapted into both a feature film and miniseries. David Lynch directed the 1984 feature and Rubinstein produced the Syfy channel miniseries.
Before moving onto BATTLESHIP, Peter Berg had been attached the helm the new film.
