New buyers cover major territories including France (Lagadère), Italy (Switchover Media), Australia (ABC) and Latin America (Cartoon Network). These acquisitions follow the announcement earlier this year that Cartoon Network USA became the US broadcast partner for the series.
Delivering catchy tunes and big laughs, Grojband is geared towards kids 6-11 years of age. The series follows cool-as-a-cucumber Corey and his three best friends as they struggle to rocket their garage band to international stardom. When they realize that their lack of lyrical creativity is the only thing stopping them from making it big, Corey hits the jackpot when he stumbles upon the diary of his drama-queen older sister, Trina.
Sander Schwartz, President, FME Kids & Family Entertainment, commented, “The characters in Grojband may not be the best musicians in the world but they there are set for international superstardom nonetheless! We’re delighted that international broadcasters are lining up to acquire the series for its blend of unique styling, cool characters and catchy music.”
Grojband was developed by Fresh TV in association with TELETOON Canada Inc. and is distributed by FME. The series is created by Todd Kauffman and co-directed by Kauffman and Mark Thornton. Executive Producers are Tom McGillis, Jennifer Pertsch, Brian Irving and George Elliott, as well as FME’s Sander Schwartz and Bob Higgins.
