files/pictures/picture-35.jpgA Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that The Weinstein Co. versus Relativity Media lawsuit over the remake of THE CROW should head to arbitration, writes The Hollywood Reporter
. Relativity had motioned the court to do so based on a clause in its contract with The Weinstein Co., which originally filed the lawsuit to stop Relativity from selling the distribution rights to the film. The Weinsteins claims the contract gives them the worldwide rights.
Relativity claims that the Weinsteins fumbled the release of their co-production NINE so much that they question whether the Weinsteins can properly release THE CROW redux. Relativity is looking for $20 million for damages on NINE and full rights to THE CROW.
The remake is set to star Bradley Cooper with Juan Carlos Fresnadillo directing.
