Bryan Cranston (BREAKING BAD) will be part of Walt Disney's JOHN CARTER OF MARS, reports the Heat Vision blog. The former MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE father will play a Civil War colonel that butts heads with Carter, who will play with Taylor Kitsch. Based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' series, the story follows Carter, a Civil War vet, who is teleported to Mars where he gets wrapped up in a war. Cast also includes Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Samantha Morton and Polly Walker.
Pixar's Andrew Stanton will direct. Stanton co-wrote with Mark Andrews. Jim Morris and Colin Wilson are the producers.
Production is set to begin in a week.
