Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance Premieres Exclusively on SCIFI.COM
In a broadcasting first, SCI FI will launch its season online, with a five-week, 10-episode online-only prequel season called BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE RESISTANCE. Premiering today (Sept. 5, 2006) SCIFI.COM will begin airing two- to three-minute episodes every Tuesday and Thursday at midnight, at www.scifi.com/battlestar, leading up to the Oct. 6 season 3 premiere on television.
From the creative team of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, THE RESISTANCE features the days following the events of the season 2 finale. Life on New Caprica had held the promise of protection from the Cylons, breathable air and solid land under their feet. However, when the planet was discovered, humanity was forced to learn to live under Cylon occupation. As Saul Tigh (Michael Hogan) and Chief Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) organize an insurgency, the Cylons campaign for peaceful co-existence, yet eliminate anyone showing signs of resistance. As life among the Cylons becomes more and more unbearable, former members of Galacticas fleet lifelong friends Jammer (Dominic Zaprogna) and Duck (Tucker Clellan) must decide whether resistance or compliance is in the best interest of humanity.
The storyline of the online prequel event will lead viewers into SCI FIs season 3 on-air premiere in October.
BATTLESTAR GALACTICA is the gripping saga of humanity's last remnants and their struggle to find a new home while fleeing from their deadly Cylon enemies. Redefining the space opera with its gritty realism, GALACTICAS intensity, issues-driven topicality, and command performances have garnered it numerous awards. The series is from NBC Universal Television Studio and is exec produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.
A one-hour recap special, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE STORY SO FAR, will also be viewable on SCIFI.COM/battlestar throughout September.
