Congratulations to everyone that worked on THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON for winning the visual effects Oscar, particularly Eric Barba, Steve Preeg, Burt Dalton and Craig Barron, who accepted the award at the Academy Awards on Sunday. And congratulations to everyone that took home VES awards on Saturday, including Phil Tippett, who earned the Pioneer award, and Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, who were honored with the Lifetime Achievement award.
You can read Ellen Wolff's interview with Tippett and my interviews with Kennedy & Marshall. Meanwhile, in the final "Digital Eye" column, Autodesk's Sebastian Sylwan explores how stereoscopic 3-D is paving the way for a new kind of visual storytelling. Not to worry: although the "Digital Eye" moniker is going away, VFXWORLD will continue to offer invaluable analysis from industry experts.
