Aeon Flux Supporting Cast Announced
Valhalla Motion Pictures and MTV Films have announced the supporting cast for their live-action adaptation of Peter Chungs animated cult TV series, AEON FLUX. Joining Oscar-winning actresses Charlize Theron (MONSTER) and Frances McDormand (FARGO) will be Marton Csokas (XXX), Jonny Lee Miller (HACKERS), Sophie Okonedo (DIRTY PRETTY THINGS), Amelia Warner (QUILLS) and Caroline Chikezie (U.K. TVs THE FOOTBALLERS WIVES. The flick is scheduled for theatrical release in 2005. Paramount Pictures and Lakeshore Ent. will distribute. Filming is slated to begin in early August in Berlin.
Set 400 years in the future, when disease has wiped out the majority of the earth's population except for one walled, protected city-state ruled by a congress of scientists, Aeon Flux, the top operative in the underground "Monican" rebellion, is enlisted the rebel leader Handler to kill the government's leader, Chairman Trevor Goodchild (Csokas). On her mission, Aeon uncovers a world of secrets, which makes her question everything she thought she knew.
Miller portrays Trevor's younger brother, Oren Goodchild, who believes in the order of the city, state and seeks to crush the rebellion. Okonedo plays Aeon's protege and rebel operative, Sithandra. Warner takes on the role of Aeon's beloved sister, Una Flux. While Chikezie will play Freya, the loyal aide to Trevor Goodchild.
Karyn Kusama (GIRLFIGHT) will direct the film with Gale Anne Hurd, David Gale, Gary Lucchesi and Greg Goodman producing. Tom Rosenberg and Van Toffler are exec producers. The screenplay is written by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi (VALIANT).
